The Tigray Community of Toronto exists to serve Tegaru By honoring our heritage and embracing our role within Canadian society, we continue to grow as a connected, resilient, and empowered community.

We are a community of change-makers who believe that unity, culture, and compassion can empower families and shape a better future.

The Tigray Community of Toronto (TCT) is a community-based, non-profit and charitable organization serving Tigrayans in the Greater Toronto Area. We exist to support integration, preserve cultural identity, empower future generations, and strengthen community connections while contributing positively to Canadian society.

Rooted in community values and driven by volunteer leadership, TCT works to address the social, cultural, educational, and civic needs of Tigrayan Canadians.

Our Mission
we want to provide critical support to Canadians of Tigrayan descent, as well as new immigrants and refugees of Tigrayan origin.

Whether it is through services, education, and advocacy, we work to help community members overcome settlement challenges and integrate successfully into Canadian society as proud, engaged, and productive citizens. We also serve as a platform to promote equity, social justice, inclusive civic participation, and respect for diversity.

The objectives of the Tigray Community of Toronto include:

  • Promoting awareness of the rights and responsibilities of new Canadians

  • Supporting the successful integration of Tigrayan Canadians and newcomers while preserving cultural heritage

  • Educating Tigrayan youth about their language, culture, traditions, and values

  • Developing community resources through volunteer participation and partnerships

  • Encouraging civic participation, leadership, and social advocacy

  • Promoting understanding and cooperation with other cultural and community organizations

  • Supporting an environment where the rights and dignity of all individuals are respected

TCT Board of Directors

The TCT Board of Directors is composed of a dynamic team responsible for overseeing the
strategic direction and management of the organization. The board operates with a
minimum of six and a maximum of nine directors, ensuring governance and representation
across key operational areas.

Leads the board, presides over meetings, and provides overall strategic guidance.

 In charge of resource mobilization, as well as assisting the Chairman and acts in their stead when required.
