As a community-based non-for-profit and charitable organization, the Tigrayan Community in Toronto strives to provide critical support to Canadians of Tigrayan descent, as well as new immigrants and refugees of Tigrayan origin, in the Toronto area through services and education to overcome settlement obstacles and facilitate their successful integration into Canadian society as proud and productive citizens. The association also will serve as a venue to promote equity, social justice, inclusive civic participation, and respect for diversity.

To nurture and develop a strong and productive Tigrayan Canadian community that has realized its full potential and is successfully integrated into the Canadian society.

• To promote, educate and make aware the rights and responsibilities of all new Canadians as well as to promote and encourage their full and equal participation in Canadian society.

• To promote the successful integration of Canadian Tigrayans and their children, and Tigrayan immigrants into the Canadian society while preserving their culture and heritage.

• To serve as a venue to educate Canadian Tigrayan children of their culture, language, tradition and values.

• To develop community resources through voluntary participation, community networks and coalition building.

• To educate, train and empower Tigrayan Canadians in civic participation, social and political advocacy through creating venue for active participation and participant-led programs.

• To promote understanding and cooperation between Tigrayan Canadians and all other ethnic, cultural and racial groups in Canada, and to strengthen relations with similar international organizations/associations having similar objectives for mutual benefits.

• To create an environment in this country in which all rights of all individuals are fully recognized and protected.
